Ks. Jerzy Popiełuszko
Jerzy Popiełuszko (ur. 1947 r., zm. 30 października 1984 r.). Błogosławiony ks. Jerzy Popiełuszko głosił "Zło dobrem zwyciężaj", odnosząc się do panującej sytuacji w kraju. Nasz Patron, brutalnie zamordowany w okresie PRL, podczas mszy świętych za Ojczyznę otwarcie bronił ideałów Solidarności, sprzeciwiał się przemocy oraz krytykował nadużycia komunistycznej władzy. Ks. Jerzy Popiełuszko jako męczennik za wiarę został ogłoszony błogosławionym w 2010 roku, po trwającym 13 lat procesie beatyfikacyjnym.
Idea WOLNOŚCI I RÓWNOŚCI SŁOWA, która przyświecała ks. Popiełuszce przez całego jego życie, jest szczególnie bliska Wyższej Szkole Demokracji, w tym całej społeczności akademickiej uczelni.
